If you’ve ever been to Vivid, which is held in Sydney each year, you’ll love GLOW, which is currently running at Sydney Zoo from 13th May – 18th June 2022. Yes, you don’t have the amazing backdrop of the Harbour Bridge or the Opera House, but you also don’t have the 50,000 other people pushing past you!
There is so much to see and the kids can be really interactive so they will love it. And yes, the big kids loved it too! This is said to be the biggest and brightest light festival in Western Sydney, with over 50 light sculptures, a 12 meter twinkling light tunnel and plenty of other attractions.
Included in the ticket price, every child receives a UV torch and map so they can join in the Secret UV Safari trail of hidden animals and artwork.
Whilst you are walking through parts of the zoo, most animals were in darkness and you could not see them, although we did see a few kangaroos feeding along the way. However, you can walk through Australia’s largest reptile house and see the reptiles including a glowing UV scorpion.

KIIS Eye Ferris Wheel
After you’ve wandered around on ground level, for $8 you can enjoy the view from above on the ferris wheel.
GLOW Ice Rink
Tickets $20 per session.
Glowy Golf by Carnival Cruise Line
Test out your Putt Putt golf skills on this fun course.
Ochre Face Painting
Painted by Aboriginal guides using glowing ochre.
There are lots of other cool interactive activities like the drums which activates a colour and light show, Kinetic Swing which gets brighter the higher you swing, the Neon Garden and Trumpet Flowers which light up and play music as you interact with them.
Of course if you want to grab a feed they have some food trucks there including the amazing BlackBear BBQ and even the 4 Pines Bar, plus glow in the dark fairy gloss and glowing lightbulb drinks.
